The Construction Containment Technician is responsible for implementing and maintaining containment measures during construction, renovation, and maintenance activities within a healthcare setting. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, infection control standards, and overall cleanliness standards to protect patients, staff, and visitors from potential hazards.

Reporting and Working Hours

•  Construction Containment Technicians’ typical working schedule is 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, 40 hours total for a working week with 30 minute lunch breaks daily. 2 (two) 15 minute break periods per day, one in morning and one in afternoon, are part of the job schedule and Technicians’ will not be required to clock out for those.
  • Work hours start and stop times can vary depending on project needs.
  • Any requests for overtime work need to be submitted to the UHAT Construction Superintendents.
  • Request for time off or sick leave needs to be submitted via Paycom.
  • Construction Containment Technicians are to clock in and clock out on time using Paycom timeclocks in UHAT facilities. Clocking in location can vary depending on where construction containment technicians are to report for work activities. This includes daily 30-minute lunch breaks. For normal working hours, a five-minute grace period is accepted.
•  Construction Containment Technicians are to report directly to UHAT Construction Superintendents.
  • Technicians are expected to inform Construction Superintendents what areas they are working in and update them any time they are transitioning to another location or jobsite along with confirmation once they have reached the new location. This includes daily 15 minute breaks and 30 minute lunch breaks.

Roles and Responsibilities

•  With direction from the Construction Superintendents, install hard and soft barrier systems for job containment. To include, but not limited to, pressure monitoring, negative air units, sticky/walk-off mats, and floor protection.  Inspect jobsite containment continually throughout daily shift. Ensure that containment is clean, in good working condition, and there are no gaps or lapses in barriers.
•  Working on ladders or elevated surfaces is expected to be performed as part of job responsibilities.
•  Working with overhead materials and objects is expected to be performed as part of job responsibilities.
•  Detailed cleaning of areas will be required at direction of Construction Superintendents.
•  Lifting and moving heavy objects and material is expected to be performed as part of job responsibilities.
•  Construction Containment Technicians are expected to have their UHAT issued IPad on them at all times and have accountability for keeping track of issued IPad.
•  Construction Containment Technician is expected to wear their issued UHAT Safety Vest at all times while on project sites or performing work. UHAT issued hardhats are to be worn when job activities or jobsite conditions require it.
•  Construction Containment Technicians are expected to keep accountability for any equipment, material, or supplies provided to them for use on projects. Report any lost, stolen, or broken items to Construction
• Superintendents immediately. Equipment, material, or supplies provided to Construction Containment Technicians are to be stored in secure areas and keep in clean, good working order.
• Construction Containment Technician are to monitor contractors on site to ensure contractors are wearing issued UHAT safety vests while performing work on jobsites. Construction Containment Technicians are to inform contractors not wearing issued UHAT safety vests that they must be worn at all times while performing work. If contractors are not response to requests from Construction Containment Technician, the Technician is to immediately inform the Construction Superintendent.
•  With direction from the Construction Superintendents, install flooring protection for projects. Ensure flooring protection is maintained, is cleaned regularly and free of dust and debris, patch any gaps or deficiencies.
• Remove all debris and trash from jobsite using approved trash containers. Trash containers are to be covered when removed from jobsites and moved through public areas.
• Ensure floors are clean and free of debris or tripping hazards. Floors to be swept and mopped regularly.
•  Ensure sticky/walk-off mats are clean and being changed regularly. Refill sticky mats when they are getting low. Inform Construction Superintendent when sticky mat supply is low.
•  Ensure no dust or debris is being tracked out of the jobsite. Immediately address any dust or debris that has been tracked out of the jobsite.  Work with contractors on jobsites as well as Construction Superintendents to ensure all contractors are cleaning dust, debris, and construction materials that they have created due to their work. If contractors are not responsive to cleaning up debris that is caused by their work, report this to the Construction Superintendents.
•  Digital ICRA (Infections Control Risk Assessment) forms are to be completed at a minimum of once per day, per jobsite. If workload allows, ICRA forms are to be done in the morning and afternoon for each jobsite. If deficiencies are discovered during completion of the ICRA form, those deficiencies are to be addressed immediately and corrected. If issues cannot be resolved by the Construction Containment Technician, immediately inform Construction Superintendent.
•  Take direction from UHAT Compliance Team regarding issues with jobsite cleanliness, safety, and containment.
•  Dress Code: Construction Containment Technicians are to wear provided uniforms at all times while clocked in for work.
• Perform any other activities, duties, or tasks assigned.

Team Lead Roles and Responsibilities

• Work with Construction Superintendents and ensure Construction Containment Technicians are being accountable for primary roles and responsibilities while Construction Superintendents are not on site, to include but not limited to containment procedures, safety practices, emergency protocols, and infectious control measures.
•  Ensure team members are following established policies and procedures related to time management tracking.
•  Provide daily email updates at end of shift to Construction Superintendents regarding work that was carried out for that day.
•  Ensure team members are maintaining standards for jobsite cleanliness and containment. Work with team members to correct deficiencies in work and report to Construction Superintendents if issues persist with team members.
•  Perform any other activities, duties, or tasks assigned.
